Esther Milardi, born in Reggio Calabria (Italy), moved to Britain to do a Masters and then a PhD which he dedicated to exploring the link between art and forms of self-representations. After teaching as a lecturer at Cardiff University, she started a new career in Interior Design. Fascinated by the creative inspiration provided by art to the world of interiors, Esther will introduce us to Italian Futurism,  an avant-garde  movement founded by Filippo Marinetti at the beginning of the twentieth century. Driven by a desire for renewal, artists like Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni and Carlo Carra’ put forth a new aesthetic based on the power of kinetic energy, speed and simultaneity. In her lecture, Esther will also explore the connections between the Futurist aesthetics of modernity and interior design.
