CASW Exhibition at the 2018 National Eisteddfod

Since 1938 the Contemporary Art Society for Wales has acquired around 850 works by 500 artists. These are now held as part of well-known public collections across Wales – a vital record of Welsh art through the decades. This exhibition celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Society’s first acquisition by exploring the contemporary art of successive eras, much of which may have seemed challenging when new. It includes work by some of Wales’ leading painters, sculptors and film-makers from the 1930s to the present day. The exhibition is curated for the Contemporary Art Society for Wales by Dr Peter Wakelin in the wonderful Pierhead building at the heart of the Cardiff Bay waterfront.
