Artist Notes:
Born 1931, Criccieth. Trained at Birmingham College of Art. Although he has lived and painted extensively in Europe and North Africa the landscape of Wales has been a constant inspiration for him. It has been visited and revisited as he evolves and updates his interpretation of familiar places with which he so obviously empathises. Here is a sea/beachscape an increasing component in his repertoire when he lived in Tenby for a short time, with his equally accomplished artist wife Claudia Williams. Southfront is the more select beach of the town and the painting is greatly more subdued than much of his work showing for him a remarkable restraint both in colour and texture. It is in tune with the gentility of this particular area of a late Regency seaside town.
