Content: These eleven surreal collages were printed alongside poems inThe Arches, published by Seren in 1998. They are each signed by the artist.

Notes: Poet and collage artist John Digby emigrated from Britain to the United States in 1978, where he married Joan Weiss, a professor of English at Long Island University. His publication, The Collage Handbook (Thames and Hudson, 1985), established him as a key practitioner in this field, and his Surrealist-inspired works are well-represented within collections in the US. Twelve of his bird collages are included in theDonald Windham & Sandy M. Campbell Collectionsat the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University. His black and white illustrations, drawings, collages, engravings and photographs are housed in the Archive of Joan and John Digby's Private Press Publications at Long Island University.
