Notes: Muriel Clement has her tapestry workshop behind her house in the Mumbles, Swansea. Colour, juxtaposition and consummate craftmanship characterise her work. The shapes are bold, simplified from things observed and remembered. Her compositions are developed through small paper collages and woven on a high-warp (vertical) loom. 'Aegean Idyll' is based on memories of the Greek landscape - pink and orange soil, grey or green shadows. A quiet, subtle piece by a quiet, gentle person, it bears slow contemplation.
