Notes: Selwyn Jones trained as a book illustrator and worked professionally briefly on a freelance basis before retraining as an art teacher. He taught in schools and colleges in Caernarfon, Rochdale, Newport and Bangor for over 20 years.He was an artist attached to his own locality - the mountains of Snowdonia and the countryside of Anglesey. His landscapes show a richness in texture and have an honest earthy quality - a characteristic in common with other artists who have similarly lived in and been inspired by the north Wales landscape.
