Notes: Richard Renshaw was born in Yorkshire. At an early age he was intrigued by fossils and later studied geology (BSc Hons) at Manchester University. He travelled widely pursuing his mountaineering passion. He took up woodcarving but moved to sculpture having seen the work of Henry Moore, which matched well with his geological knowledge.
