Content: This is one of Haines' more abstract works, from time her time spent in France. The colours of the soil and the buildings evoke the hot dusty atmosphere of Candes-Saint-Martin, in the Loire Valley. It is an ambitious work; it straddles the area between representation and abstraction, yet is highly evocative of its subject. Signed bottom left and dated bottom right.
