Content: The lack of title reflects her reluctance to impose upon the viewer any preconceived notion of subject matter. Like most of her work, this painting is figurative and shows her abiding interest in the common person and the human condition, but it is devoid of sentimentality, which she abhors. It is a calmingly reflective study of an old man and woman who are comfortable in each other's company. This painting has an almost religious feel, which is common to her work, and exhibits her fine draughtsmanship and painterly technique.
