Notes: David Tress has been described as the most exciting landscape painter in Wales. Based in the Pembrokeshire of his ancestors, David's paintings are substantial, physically striking works which use layers of paint and torn surfaces and edges to explore the nature of the land and man's presence on it. His recent project traces the route of the eighteenth and nineteenth century painters of the Sublime and it is with this tradition that he is best appreciated, rather than the Picturesque.
