Notes: Leslie Moore was highly influential among Welsh artists from the 1960s to the 1980s, especially through his development of challenging new art courses at Barry Summer School. This painting exemplifies his mature style, from the 1950s onwards, in which the form of objects and their space almost disappear in the diaphanous haze of mottled textures and soft colouring. He repeatedly painted flower pieces such as this, set against his window in Barry, overlooking Romilly Park.
